"Slipknot" is the debut album by the US nu-metal band Slipknot. It was released on June 29, 1999 via Roadrunner Records

After the band released the 1996 demo Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. and gained initial attention from record labels, they wrote more songs with new vocalist Corey Taylor. Beginning in September 1998, recording for the debut album began in Malibu, California, where the band had moved from their home in Des Moines, Iowa

At the end of 1998 guitarist Josh Brainard left the band, who had recorded the songs until then. It was not until February 1999 that the recordings were continued with James Root. Slipknot also created the identity of the band members numbered from 0 to 8, as well as the masks worn at the gigs that earned them their first fan base. The album became the first album to reach platinum status on Roadrunner. Singles released in the same year were "Wait and Bleed" and "Spit It Out", for which there were also music videos, as well as "Surfacing" in France as a promotional single.
